Ever since I was young my dad always taught me the book was so much better than the movie. It's completely true. Sure watching the movie is a lot less time consuming, but with a book you get the whole setting.
Now that eight out of ten movies are made from books nothing is original. Sure if you read the book all the surprise is gone. Think about if you really liked a book wouldn't you want it to be in movies and literally come to life? If the movie does well then you enjoy the book even more!
Now the problem with movies that the authors are not the directors or writers they do not have the rights to the movies so they can definitely change what is going on.
One major case is ruining the whole ending which ruins the whole meaning of the book and why the author wrote it.
Take for example My Sisters Keeper. The ending was not at all the same as the original. In the book a shocking death happens that really made you understand why the author wrote this book and it was truly one of the saddest lessons you could take from a book.
The movie on the other had made a totally different, more predictable character die at the end. Which ruined the whole point of the book which just left me disgusted on how the director/writer could get rid of such a meaningful ending.
All I am saying is that books are better because you see that whole thing. Not just bits and pieces of what the director liked the most. A book might be more time consuming but it definitely worth it.

Disagree, have you seen Holes?

ReplyDeleteI agree. The movie is usually off from the book and which causes it to lose what makes the book great
